The main goal of the seminar is to provide an overview of the available automation tools including machinery and software. A wide range of software solutions will be discussed and their optimal use in the appropriate environment. The entire custom and production woodworking business cycle will be covered. In the estimating phase the need for software will be discussed and addressed. A review of leading software solutions will be discussed such as Alliance Millsoft and Take Off. In the design to shop cycle area, software solutions such as Microvellum, Cabinet Vision and 2020 CAD will be discussed and compared. In the panel optimizations area the ARDIS package will be discussed. In the production management area (capacity planning, scheduling and project tracking), packages such as Trackware , J-MOS and Micro Manager will be reviewed and compared. In the machinery automation area the conceptual difference between Point to Point production process and the Nested Base will be discussed in depth. The recent development of the hybrid process the combination of Point to Point and Nested Base in one machine will be discussed as well. The presenter will declare a bias towards certain solutions and processes as he is actively involved in providing those solutions to his customer. The entire approach will be as fair and balanced as possible, with proper disclosure of business relationship with some of the vendors.orking
